Trustee of SFI, Investment commentator and Publisher, Complexity Digest Complexity Digest, edited by Dr. Gottfried Mayer and published by me, has found its niche in the complexity community. It is a weekly emailed magazine summarizing papers, research and applications in the growing field of complexity. It reaches over ten thousand weekly subscribers by individual subscription (available upon request), and is available on the web .... It is also reposted to many institutional mailing lists by organizations interested in informing their clientele about complexity.

Complexity Digest Offers Numerous Articles
Complexity Digest actively collects and disseminates a wide variety of published papers and articles on the topic of Complex Systems. The Digest has compiled an impressive list of papers and titles ranging from Mammalian Cells Spin a Spidery New Yarn and Fuel Cells That Fit in a Laptop to Microbes Use Mud to Make Electricity . Although access to a number of the articles is free, several sources (including Science ) request that viewers select a specific type of service (free, limited, full) when accessing an article published in their magazine.

Complex Dynamical Systems
A complex dynamical system is a directed graph or network of simpler dynamical systems with parameters, linked by output-to-input functions. For example, techniques of spatial econometrics (or systems dynamics) model each source of raw materials, factory, warehouse, retail outlet, etc, separately, then links them with transportation systems taking the delivery times and costs into account. Making such models requires large numbers of time series: complex data. The attractor reconstruction and trajectory fitting methods have been adapted to complex dynamical systems. Principia Cybernetica Complexity Digest : a weekly list of summaries of articles related to complexity that appeared in various journals, a most useful service provided by G. Mayer-Kress
Under: Links on Complexity, Self-organization and Artificial Life: Complexity, Self-Organization
NOTE: (Principia Cybernetica) Gottfried Mayer-Kress, an old acquaintance of our little PCP community and a member of the Global Brain Group, has started up a most useful service: the Complexity Digest. This is a weekly "newsletter-like" publication which summarizes interesting articles about issues related to complex systems, that have appeared in various scientific journals and magazines, such as Nature, Scientific American, Non-linearity etc., providing a link to the full article if available. The complexity digest is available on the web: http://www.comdig.org/ or via email. Let us all hope that Gottfried will find sufficient time and support to continue this excellent initiative.

The current issue of Complexity Digest listed an article which piqued my interest, but linked to a site which required some sort of registration process. Fortunately, Google came to the rescue, and I found it elsewhere: Is sleep 'hard-wired' into the brain? -- "Article Abstract pasted here"
